From The Chair – June 2023

All quiet on the Phoenix front. Still having good feedback from the coronation celebration.  We’ve got too long to wait for the next one, so we have our thinking caps on, watch this space. Meanwhile, the coffee morning is on Thursday 15th June 2023, with Chloe singing for us, Chloe is the niece of one of our Phoenix members, so come along we are downstairs at Lea Hall 10 a.m. There will be bingo and a raffle.

From The Chair

It’s all about the Coronation, the friendship and the memories….                                                  The committee has been kicking around ideas how Phoenix can celebrate on Tuesday 9th May 2023.  We thought about a buffet lunch with activities going on in the day and a fish n chip supper with entertainment in the evening. We asked for the group’s input, and it was decided it would be too long a day and parking issues, etc. So, we have decided to make the lunchtime a big event and not to go ahead with the evening. There will be a buffet lunch with prosecco (you can bring your own drink) There will be entertainment, and Ben will be playing his guitar and singing. There will be a quiz, floral art display a raffle and possibly other things going on (still in negotiations). Hopefully, the sun will come out and we can venture into the marquee. We will update you when we can, tickets are £5 each available from group leaders’ priority going to the members who put their name down.

From The Chair – March 2023

Phoenix membership currently stands at 292, good to see new members attending all groups.                                                                                                                                                                            A date for your diaries, Tuesday 9th May Phoenix will be celebrating the coronation of King Charles. There will be lots going on at Sheepfair so keep an eye out for up-and-coming events. We will be forming a subcommittee should you have any ideas you would like to share or dare I say participate in helping out.   It’s all about making memories.

Coffee morning is downstairs at Lea Hall on Thursday 16th March 10 am with Steve Geale.

From The Chair – February 2023

The AGM took place on the 19th of January, and no one stood forward for any of the positions, so we remain as we are.

The next coffee morning is in March with Steve Geale, you may remember him last year with his talk on Ruth Ellis, this time he will be doing a talk on Stafford  Prison .  June’s entertainment will be a   singer,  more details coming soon.

Many of the activities have new members which is nice to see.

Roll on summer and here’s to a good year.

From The Chair – January 2023

Thank you to the 99 members attending the Christmas coffee morning. Apologies for the cheese man letting us down at the last minute, but together with Pat’s quiz and Lydia and friends singing extra time for us I think we salvaged what turned out to be a lovely morning. The raffle raised £124 which we are donating to the Rugeley food bank. Hope everyone has a good new year.
