From the Chair August 2014

Hi everyone I hope you have been enjoying the lovely summer we have been experiencing this year. Summer already, where does the time go! And next month we will be holding our AGM once again. Now come on don’t look like that, it only comes around once a year so I’m sure you can manage one Thursday morning of club business. It’s your club so make sure you are here to see and hear what’s going on and to see who will be in the key positions for the next twelve months. Now listen up and stop talking coz this is important!! As the constitution rules state all the officers of your club must stand down at the AGM, so that means that with the exception of the President whose three year term of office terminates next year. All the officers of the committee will be up for election or re- election that is the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Secretary, and Assistant Secretary, along with many other positions. Anyone who feels they would like to be elected to the committee in any position must:

A)      Be a fully paid up member,

B)      State the position they are seeking, be proposed and seconded by a fellow fully paid up member.

C)      Have their nomination in to Ann Nunn (secretary) by Monday 1st September

Right have you got that? Good, now back to today, in fact back to last months coffee morning. What a fabulous display the art group put on depicting the First World War, I thought it was brilliant so thank you to those artists who had a picture on display. Another thank you goes to Edna and her team for the smashing strawberry tea we all enjoyed a couple of Sunday’s ago. Mmm! I can still taste those lovely strawberries! But Hey, Ho there is so much to tell you today I’d better get on with it. After the AGM business Pat Tams is holding another plant sale and asks you to let her have any plants that members might have going spare for her table. Moving swiftly on we can announce that our eagerly awaited calendars are now available from your activity leader and at coffee mornings from Rob Cross and at £3.50 an absolute bargain. So get yours today while there are still some left, once again it shows the depth of talent we have in our club with some stunning pictures and paintings. Finally I can also tell you that next year’s Twentieth Anniversary Souvenir Book is getting nearer completion and should be ready for its launch at the New Year Party we are planning for January 2015 and that should be a “cracker”

So that’s it for now at any rate!
