From The Chair – July 2019

Hot and humid July sitting in the garden, as June didn’t end well for me. Walking Elsie, I went to grab her collar to stop her legging away from another dog ended up with snapped tendon in my pinkie finger. My first thought was at least it’s not my ‘racket’ arm. But In reality, with a splint on for 3 months, can’t hold a tennis ball /shuttlecock so out of action. Hence sitting in the garden writing this.

I hear the walking group enjoyed their coach/walking trip to Bewdley apparently there was a 1940s theme on at Arley station with child evacuees, land girls and even Winston Churchill in attendance.

June’s Coffee Morning, although low attendance, was excellent with the Lichfield Town Crier, (with a different hat on), he spoke about his childhood it was very funny, enough to make me laugh out loud.

The raffle was run by the Table tennis group and raised £60 for Acorns children’s hospice. For this month’s coffee morning,

Deryck has organised someone from the NHS to give a talk about ‘Everyone Wants To Be Healthy’.

I’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Ivan Hughes, who has been sorting out all the many Phoenix trips for us, but is now retiring from the post. The trips already booked will still go ahead and then we will reassess the situation.

I’m away for this month’s coffee morning. So, have a good one. –

Elaine
