From the Chair June 2016

We are at last enjoying some real summer weather allowing us to enjoy our gardens, family outings and events as well as outdoor activities organised by a plethora of organisations at this time of year. Many of us will have been, or are going on holiday and we wish you a very happy time that will rejuvenate you and bring you great pleasure. For those of you unable to go away there is always Phoenix with its regular activities, days out and social events.

The recent Music Quiz was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended, many thanks to everyone who helped and particulary Mike Page who must have put many hours into assembling the quiz. The visit to Whitby was full to capacity as is Mamma Mia. There will be a summer Beetle Drive on July 9th and a BBQ on July 21st, tickets available at  Coffee Morning this month. Seats are also available for the visit to Ellesmere Port Canal Trust and Liverpool in September 2016.

Please remember that the club is open to ideas for social events and would love people to come forward if they have contacts and/or skills in organising events. There will be a Skittles Evening in September and Sandra will be organising a Christmas event in December 2016. Please also  remember we need volunteers for a few positions for next year, namely Vice Chairma Assistant Treasurer and a person/persons to take over the Display Boards.

We need people to carry on the spirit of the club, a very special spirit that cares for people as evidenced by the concern shown when one of our members who was recently taken into hospital and no one knew where he was.Thank you to all those people who took the trouble to find out, help and visit him. Well done.

Sandra and Wendy
