From the Chair November 2014

Hello and welcome to today’s coffee morning, now I know some of you think I was a little harsh last month, but I am not going to apologise because I believe in what I said. A club like ours needs as much support as possible and that comes from you the member. The calendar is/was my idea as part of our 20th celebration and nothing more than that and at £3.50 is not a lot to ask to support your club. It is a one off project to put a little bit of interest into the 2015 celebrations and for somewhere to mark all the additional events we have planned. It will not happen again. It looks very likely that we will make a huge loss on this project and the only thing I am sorry for are for those who took so much time and effort to take and print the photos and paint the pictures, they must feel let down by those of you who have not backed their efforts, but that’s life and if you don’t want to support your club then so be it. I would take this opportunity to say a very big thank you to the photographers and artists, Rob Cross and Gloria Marshall for their overwhelming help and dedication to the project. I also say thank you to the activity leaders who have sold them and those of you who have bought them. One activity that also needs some backing is the reformed Pilates group now on a Wednesday at 11am till 12noon at Brereton and Ravenhill Parish Hall, like all activities it will only survive if members attend and support it. Very soon we will be publishing a programme of social events for the 2015 celebration of our 20th anniversary a programme we hope you will all enjoy. As you know we kicked off with a smashing evening of songs, photos and not forgetting the fish ‘n’ chip supper at the Country and Western evening put on by the Music Group in October and this month the Tai Chi held the skittles evening. (More about this next month)

If you play golf and would like to take part in a Rugeley Phoenix Activities Club Golfing Society that will be self funding then have a word with me either at coffee morning or ring me on 01889 583457 and I’ll give you more details of who to speak to about it.

If anyone would like to speak to me about any other issues regarding the Phoenix and how it is being run then please do so I’m usually quite friendly, really I am!
