Latest Phoenix update.
Following a recent meeting with members of the committee; providing there are no changes to the Government’s roadmap, Phoenix will once again be rising from the ashes and returning, as normal on the 21st of June 2021.
We looked at some of the activities returning, following the Government’s guidelines, on the 17th May. However, there is still an issue with cleaning chairs. tables, light switches, etc. after each activity.
A letter will be sent to all activity leaders, so if you have any questions or comments you would like to put forward, please let us know.
The AGM will be held in January 2022 and membership fees will be due at the beginning of January 2022.
Keep smiling in these difficult times. I know it is hard for you all that you cannot see my handsome face and you are missing our get togethers. Do as we are told and keep 2 metres apart. Jackie and I are with the gas and electric metres between us, but it is hard when you try and turn over in bed. Well take care and just in case it goes on longer – a merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all.

If you ask people if they’ve ever played badminton, many people will say that years ago they played at school or in the garden or even ex-club players. So what stopped you? Think you are too old? Too Rusty?
We have two octogenarians play with us and of a good standard. So come and give it a go, see if you can rekindle your badminton skills. Good exercise and good banter. We meet at Rugeley Community Centre on Burntill Lane eery Wednesday 2pm – 4pm.
Phoenix Inter-Group Quiz
Rugeley Phoenix Club flew the flag at an inter-group quiz last week, with
a team of four competing at Gnosall against other Phoenix clubs in our
federation. Last year ‘Tom’s Angels’ brought home the winner’s trophy,
this time it went elsewhere, but it was still a good afternoon with some
delicious homemade cakes at the interval. As a newcomer to the team,
and actually the quiz itself, I was very impressed with how well
everything was organised to make the event run so seamlessly and
smoothly. There had obviously been weeks if not months of preparation
and checking and it paid off. Thanks to fellow team-mates Jennie and
Tom Lee and Moira Montero, I really enjoyed being part of it.
