Tennis in the Spotlight May 2018

Wimbledon will soon be here but you don’t have to be a Federer, a Williams or a Murray to enjoy tennis. We probably have more  enjoyment on a Friday morning at Lea Hall Tennis courts, 10am to 12pm, than they do all season. Come along and join us. All we ask is that you wear trainers on your feet and a smile on your face. Balls and rackets and a warm welcome will be provided.

Tennis in the Spotlight April 2017

April has not been the start of our new tennis season as we play outdoors all through the winter, if the weather is dry. However, the early spring cold winds have not yet permitted the revelation of knees and tracksuits are still needed to maintain body heat.

All the usual suspects from last year are still with us and we send our best wishes to Dave Russell after his short spell in hospital.

The only cloud on the horizon is that we may lose our venue, (Lea Hall), next year due to possible development-it’s all uncertain at this time.

November 2016 – Tennis Competition Results

The last round of the Phoenix Tennis Competition was finally staged in early November, after many delays due to weather and holidays. This round consisted of a round-robin tournament of the four finalists of earlier rounds, namely Mike Fitzpatrick, Van Taylor, Jeff Wall and Clive Faulkner.  Three very close matches failed to produce a single overall winner so we needed to refer to the most number of points from the earlier rounds and this resulted in a win for Jeff Wall, to whom we will be presenting the shield in the near future.
