If you ask people if they’ve ever played badminton, many people will say that years ago they played at school or in the garden or even ex-club players. So what stopped you? Think you are too old? Too Rusty?
We have two octogenarians play with us and of a good standard. So come and give it a go, see if you can rekindle your badminton skills. Good exercise and good banter. We meet at Rugeley Community Centre on Burntill Lane eery Wednesday 2pm – 4pm.
The badminton group meet every Wednesday 2pm -4pm at the Rugeley community church on Burnthill Lane. We currently have a healthy membership but always welcome anyone new wishing to join us, so if you are in the need for some exercise and a good belly laugh come along.
We have 2 octogenarians play, so you are never too old and the standards vary so if you are a little rusty some of the more experienced players are happy to help improve your game. We have a friendly competition usually in October with a prize trophy, but all in a competitive friendly spirit.
The badminton group meet every Wednesday between 2-4pm at the Rugeley Community Church on Burnthill Lane. We currently have a good membership but, having three courts there is always space and a big welcome for anyone who wishes to join us. Although there is a range of ability we all join in together so everyone can take part and have an enjoyable afternoon. Games are played in a suitably competitive but friendly spirit and there are enough experienced (old) players willing to help members improve their game. We all look forward to our social Wednesday afternoon to enjoy our sport and help us keep fit.
The Tournament was a well attended event and after some
very competitive games, the results were as follows;
Ladies Champion Elaine Worley—Runner up Jean Brown
Mens Champion– Jeff Wall—Runner up Mick Adams
Congratulations to the winners and a big thank you to everyone
who took part.
Any Phoenix members who would like to join us on a Wednesday
afternoon between 2pm and 4pm would be very welcome. It is always
an enjoyable afternoon and a good way of keeping fit and
having a very social couple of hours.
The Badminton group held their Annual Tournament which was played in friendly but competitive fashion. After some hard matches, this year’s champions were Jeff Wall in the men’s section and Jan Stringer in the ladies section. Congratulations to them both
